The Luton Baako Festival Caribbean Rum Cake Competition is your opportunity to showcase your baking skills, celebrate Caribbean heritage and compete alongside talented home bakers, caterers, bakeries and food businesses.
Whether your recipe has been passed down through generations or you’ve perfected your own unique twist, we’d love to see your creation.
Competition Date: Saturday 15 August 2026
Venue: Marsh House, Leagrave Park, Bramingham Road, Luton LU3 2SR
Who Can Enter?
Applications are welcome from:
- Home Bakers
- Professional Bakers
- Caterers
- Bakeries
- Restaurants
- Food Businesses
Competition Requirements
To ensure fairness, all competitors must meet the following requirements:
- Each entry must be one 8-inch Caribbean Rum Cake.
- The cake must be presented on a 10-inch cake board.
- Cakes may be iced or uniced.
- Competitors must complete the official registration form.
- A full ingredient list must be provided.
- All allergens must be declared.
- Competitors must bring their completed cakes to the festival during the allocated check-in period. Full arrival details will be provided after registration.
Judging Criteria
A panel of invited VIP judges and dignitaries will assess each cake using the following criteria:
- Taste
- Texture
- Flavour
The judges’ decision will be final.
Awards
The competition will recognise the top three entries.
🏆 Luton Baako Festival Caribbean Rum Cake Champion 2026
The overall winner will receive the Luton Baako Festival Winners Cup.
🥈 Second Place
🥉 Third Place
All winners will be announced during the festival.
